WordPress Website Design: Emily Fons – Mezzo Soprano

EmilyFons.com

EmilyFons.com

Last month, we relaunched EmilyFons.com. Emily is one of my oldest friends and an amazingly talented opera singer. She had been so busy for the last year or two, that we took down her old site and put up a temporary splash page.

Earlier this year, we met and talked about what she wanted in a website. She wanted to have an updated schedule posted, fading images on the homepage with pull quotes from reviews, a biography and social media integration so that she could better connect with her growing fan base.

Please check out her site – and while you’re at it, head on over to her Facebook Fanpage and give her some love!

The Great Milwaukee Race

A couple weeks ago, I launched a new site for The Great Milwaukee Race, an adventure race in downtown Milwaukee. I also designed some marketing materials – three postcard variations and a poster!
Here are the postcard designs.

The Great Milwaukee Race offers two distances: The “full” course covers 6-8 miles and a shorter “mini” course covers 3-4 miles. I am one of the event organizers. It is a fun event that you can bring the whole family to! Enjoy a morning of fun, games and fitness! Register today! http://www.greatmilwaukeerace.com/

Adult Headband – Crochet Pattern

Since I am house-bound, recovering from ankle surgery, I have had some time to catch up on Netflix, some design work (coming soon in a later post), and try some new knitting and crocheting techniques/patterns.

Between Pinterest and Ravelry, I’ve scoured the Internet for some new patterns to try and, as always, have tweaked them in true Amy style.

Here’s a pattern for a cool headband for adults (based on CreativeYarn’s “Simple Crochet Headband” pattern):

Hook size: N (9.00mm)

Yarn weight: Super bulky

Row 1: Ch 55. Turn.

Row 2: Sl st to incorporate new color (disregard if you want all one color). Sc 15, ch 25, sc 15. Turn.

Row 3: Sl st to incorporate new color (disregard if you want all one color). Sc 15, ch 25, sc 15. Turn.

Then, using yarn needle, sew the ends of the headband together and weave in the yarn ends. Cut off excess.

I think this would be adorable with a little crocheted flower or other adornment on it!
